Service Description

Take a tour of the Indonesian Islands through the unique flavours of Java and Sumatra. Learn more about the culture behind the dishes and become familiar with the spices we will use during the class. You will learn to prepare and cook each dish from scratch at your own individual work station by following me (a native of Indonesia) with step by step instruction. At the end of the class enjoy your own cooked 2 course meal together with the other students or alternatively take your meal home with you to share with family and friends. The class includes the following: - A welcome drink and limitless refreshments during the class - All cooking equipment and ingredients SKILL LEVEL - The course is suitable for everyone from basic cooking skills upwards. SKILLS LEARNT DURING THE COURSE - Understanding Asian spices and how to combine to make spice pastes - Making satay sauce - How to balance flavours - Increased cultural understanding of Indonesia and some basic greetings DIETARY REQUIREMENTS Please note this class is not suitable for vegans, vegetarians or people with NUT & crustacean allergies HEALTH & SAFETY All classes strictly adhere to government Covid 19 guidelines to ensure the safety of all participants. During the Learn To Cook Indonesian class we will make the following dishes: Javanese Chicken Satay & Peanut Sauce Although found across SE Asia, this famous street food dish originates from the island of Java. We will learn how to make a marinade for the chicken and how to thread the meat on to the skewers. You will also learn a family recipe for satay sauce handed down by my mum. You will never taste anything like it or settle for anything less again ! Sumatran Chicken Curry With Steamed Rice Originating from the town of Padang in Sumatra, learn how to make this rich and fragrant banana leaf curry slowly simmered in coconut milk with galangal, lemon grass and kaffir lime leaf and served with steamed rice. Nasi Goreng Nasi Goreng, meaning "fried rice" in Indonesian, is a beloved Southeast Asian dish that combines fragrant rice with a medley of spices, vegetables, and protein. This flavourful and versatile dish is a staple of Indonesian cuisine, offering a harmonious blend of textures and tastes that will transport your taste buds to the vibrant streets of Southeast Asia.
